Following the TUMI Network’s webinar on improving walkability in African cities in January 2019, this second webinar explored walking and cycling culture in African cities as part of a series of webinars on topics of relevance to the mobility challenges and opportunities of African cities.
About half of the traffic fatalities on Africa’s roads are pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, as roads continue to be built for cars and lack NMT infrastructures such as sidewalks and barriers. In this webinar, we explored real-world examples of how streets are being reimagined for people in order to inspire changes in the way we move for safer, healthier, more accessible, and more sustainable African cities.
