“Through a radical governmental experiment in ‘social urbanism’, the city of Medellín in Colombia has put significant monetary investments into its poorer communities in an attempt to transform itself from one of the most notoriously violent places in the world into an innovative city of the future.”- Lianne Milton
It has been through “social urbanism”, an urban experiment carried by the government of the city of Medellin that investments into the most vulnerable and crime ridden neighborhoods took place over the last years. Along with this, there where several policies that directed funding in infrastructure in services including mobility. These interventions included cable cars, urban escalators, pedestrian walkways and free public bicycles.
