To fully unleash the opportunities for mobility by walking and cycling, cities need to take a people-centered approach to design and planning. The goal should be to create an environment that allows people to move safely, efficiently, sustainably and affordably.

ICLEI’s key activities include:
We provide design and implementation recommendations on specific projects.
Through holding the EcoMobility World Festival, ICLEI helps cities to create a forward-thinking urban transportation culture and stimulate new mobility policies which put people rather than cars at the center
We demonstrate the benefits of walking and cycling through reports, case studies and technical documents.
As a partner of the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI), we offer a platform for common local actions and peer-to-peer exchanges. We equip policymakers with ecomobility concepts, connect stakeholders with decision makers to adopt inclusive practices and ensure aligned actions
