Reducing auto dependence in Boulder

Boulder promotes non-motorized transport with a range of social, political, and geographic factors to create an extensive multi-modal transportation network. Boulder’s goal in transport is to create

“an integrated, multimodal transportation system emphasizing the role of the pedestrian mode as the primary mode of travel.”

Policies and programs included are:

  • Completion of sidewalks ;
  • Greenway network with separated bicycle and pedestrian paths;
  • Annual bicycle to work day;
  • Expansion of the neighborhood parking permit program;
  • Discounted transit pass program: the Eco Pass;
  • High-frequency bus routes.
