EcoMobility sessions 2017@COP23

Cities & Regions Pavilion 2017, Bonn Zone, COP23, Bonn, Germany

Maintaining the momentum of the 2015 Paris Agreement, cities make continuous efforts to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector. Priority areas for action to address the transforming transportation landscape at a local level include new service models, technologies, integration mechanisms, policy frameworks, safety, and financing. The EcoMobility Alliance will be hosting two sessions at the focusing on cities and sustainable transport in November 2017 at the Cities & Region Pavilion. The Pavilion is the home base for local and regional governments at COP23, with a diverse program throughout 6-17 November 2017; the Pavilion offers a space for events, exchanges, meetings and partnership building.

The two sessions will highlight innovation in sustainable urban mobility and encourage the support of local, regional, and national governments under the SDGs. The goal is to share data, knowledge and successful examples of new mobility initiatives in cities. Each session will demonstrate and inspire how to advance implementation of innovative sustainable urban transport systems to reduce personal motorisation, improve the quality of life, environment, and economy. In addition, the session will discuss the review of “mobility” in SDGs and NDCs and will provide a convening opportunity in COP23 for urban mobility.
