Call for Papers now Open for the International Walk21 Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities!

Walk21 invites you to submit a paper for their first conference in the Asian region.

In partnership with Civic Exchange, the 17th annual International Walk21 Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities will be held in Hong Kong, 3-7 October 2016.

The event provides a unique opportunity to focus on walking and its importance for people, cities and neighbourhoods as Asian communities grow into highly urbanised societies.

Contributions are invited for this highly interactive, dynamic conference around four themes:

  • Walking between layers: creating liveable density
  • Walking with multiple benefits: creating age-friendly, socially inclusive, safe, low-carbon and resilient neighbourhoods
  • Walking smart: using information and technology to enhance walking
  • Walking together: nurturing partnerships and dialogue among policy makers, business leaders, local communities and stakeholders

For the full details of these themes and about how to submit your abstract please visit:  or be in touch at

We invite practitioners, politicians, advocates and policy makers to contribute to the dialogue.

Come and join us in Hong Kong, share your story and be inspired by the success of others!
